Halloween

H A P P Y  H A L L O W E E N!

Today is the day, and we have joined forces to bring you a Halloween themed 5 things this week. Whether you are scrambling for last minute ideas or are just looking to get into the spirt of All Hallows’ Eve, we’ve got you covered!

We hope this night, week, season makes you feel the same excitement you had when you were young, full of high spirits and maybe too many sweets.

So here you go, a little inspiration from us to you!

XO,

SM: This Blood Orange Blackberry Rum Punch just looks hauntingly amazing. Dark drinks always have a little mystery to them and this one is no exception. The addition of the blood orange slice with a deep purple flower is just spot on and makes for a gorgeous cocktail. I’m sure it would taste just as good if you didn’t include the rum for the non-alcoholic drinkers. Either way these look stunning and sound delicious!

SM: These PUN-KIN’s are killing me and are just so good, so cute and seem fairly easy to make! I love the choice of pastel colors in a world of black and orange, although you could really paint your pumpkins any color! We might have to give these a go as the trick-or-treaters are stopping by tonight.

AF: Halloween is truly one of my favorite holidays (even though I hardly dress up and am to chicken to answer the door to give out candy) – I love the holiday itself and have a tradition of watching Hocus Pocus every year. It’s one of the best Halloween/Autumnal films and I happily own it on VHS and DVD 🙂 You have to check out the trailer, it brings back so much nostalgia from the 90’s!

NG: I’ve never been a fan of scary stories but one of my favorite books is Unnatural Creatures, which is a collection of short stories complied by Neil Gaiman. Many of the subjects of these stories are fantastic creatures that do extraordinary or unimaginable things. Some are a little creepier than others but all pretty whimsical!

NG: I recently started reading this great webcomic balderdash!, a story about two witches. The illustration style is fun and the story even includes cute bonuses like recipes! As I’ve started to really focus on my own illustrations, I’ve been obsessed with following other illustrators and learning about their style and process. I’m impressed by the quality of this weekly comic and it’s a great for anyone who needs a witch fix all year around!

BONUS: I love witches, or I guess to be less creepy, I’m super interested in all things witch-y?! When I was 16 my parents and I went to Boston for vacation, I begged them to take me to Salem, which they did and it was the coolest. I JUST found this awesome new store/community there; Hauswitch and I can’t get over their events and stuff, check out these ‘Witchy Cat Toys‘!! XX Andie
