Pumpkin-Bacon Bites

Pumpkin-Bacon Bites

These treats are a total winner because the secret ingredient is well… you guessed it bacon grease! But, don’t worry it’s just enough to make these your dog’s favorite not too much to be unhealthy.

Here’s what you need:

  1. 3 cups whole wheat flour
  2. 2 large eggs
  3. 2 slices bacon, chopped
  4. 1 cup oats (we used old fashioned)
  5. 1 cup pumpkin puree

Here’s what you do:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line your baking sheet with parchment/silicone mat
  2. In a large skillet cook bacon until crispy (around 8 minutes), reserve excess grease
  3. With an electric mixer beat the eggs, pumpkin, and cooled bacon grease until well combined
  4. Gradually add in the oats and flour until well incorporated
  5. Fold in chopped bacon pieces
  6. Knead dough on a floured surface, 5 times or until it has fully come together
  7. Use rolling pin to roll down to ¼ inch, then using cookie cutters cut out desired shapes and place on your lined baking sheet
  8. Bake until golden brown, 20-25 minutes

*NOTE; be sure to cool completely before serving to you dog. We found that this dough was very dense and hard to knead, so you know… use your strong arm.
